Four simple steps
How to prepare for the visit
-
01
Bring medical records
Bring your pet’s health record or passport, previous test results, discharge notes and information about current medications and supplements.
-
02
Write down the most important symptoms
Note when the symptoms began, how often they occur and whether there have been changes in appetite, thirst, activity or behaviour.
-
03
Ensure safe transport
Bring your dog on a lead or in a well-fitted harness. Transport cats and small animals in a stable, securely closed carrier.
-
04
Ask about preparation
If an additional test or procedure may be needed during the visit, ask in advance about feeding and medication. Do not withhold food or stop treatment on your own.
During the visit
What might the veterinarian ask about?
- diet, appetite and water intake,
- duration and course of symptoms,
- previous illnesses, procedures and reactions to medications,
- parasite prevention and vaccinations,
- living environment and contact with other animals.
